Bismillahirrahmanirrahim
I’d like to bring in few ideas about being silent in a matter which we distaste. Many Tausug nowadays, if you ask, if they love to have their country back they will answer you affirmatively. But as you mention the name Sultanate before them they leave no reply. Sometimes they would just say to you, whatever good come out of this means, we’ll just follow from behind – it’s a Tausug idea in general.

To be honest, the most difficult advocacy, recently, is about the Sultanate of Sulu. Because the name Sultanate had been alloyed with inferior ambitions of the heirs of the Sultans who, in reality, only knows how to uplift their lineage even the interest of Sultanate itself and the masses would be sacrificed. Most of them perhaps have think that the fate of the Sultanate lies in their hands.
On other scenario, there are from among the Tausug masses who claimed to be a “supporter” of the Sultanate of Sulu Darul Islam, also commits error even worse than those of the Sultan’s heirs. They are claiming to be brilliant and had able to decipher all the rights of the Sultanate but their actions are not germane with the nature of what they are advocating. They educate people of the law but they themselves are enemies to what they taught.
Sultanate can be considered as “theocratic government”, thus it is inappropriate for anyone to act not in accordance with the will from the Divine be it is small matter to a large one. All public officials of the Sultanate must put their trust to the one in only Allah! Everyone who believes in Allah must not underestimate the intervention from Allah. Do not impose “Western concept of Governance” in the Sultanate and underestimate that Islam didn’t teach its adherents how to manage and run the government of the Sultanate. Everything is in the Qur’an its only ignorance which limits Islam.
Anyone who claimed Sultanate’s advocates or officials but failed to materialize what the Sultanate wants to them they can be considered as have committed perfidy.
No need to unify the Tausug masses because the main problem is not with them. The focal of the problem lies in the Sultanate’s advocates themselves. You cannot unify the Tausug people by a merely rights and laws that protected the interest of the Tausug and the Sultanate of Sulu. But the main solution to the problem is within us. Let’s starts to check our hearts, how often do we remember Allah; how many times do we conduct a misuwarah [mutual consultation] in a week; how often do we read a Qur’an, tradition and the Constitution of the Sultanate itself to refer our every day transaction; how often do we call or text or send email to our fellow advocates in a week, in a month to ask them about the common interest; how often do we listen to our fellow every time we seek advise from them; how often do we gather in a month to reflect the things of the past. These are some questions which we must consider as vital for the sake of the Sultanate.
We don’t have to pinpoint others for our mistakes. I believe, once we succeeded to materialize all those questions unification among the Tausug would come later, because our unity is sowed with love thus it would be blessed by the Almighty. Who doesn’t want love?
Let’s reflect from Prophet Muhammad’s successful history in running the government of the Sultanate.
Should Allah have chosen us to be the harbinger of peaceful governance of the Sultanate of Sulu Darul Islam no one from among His creations could remove us from it! Remember, there is no accident in this world, as I said in my previous post “we are but an actors’” the script writer and the director of play in the cinema of life is Allah, the most high!
