Why to resurrect the Sultanate of Sulu?

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim

Honestly, many old friends and relatives dissented to us with regards to our fervid support to the Sultanate of Sulu. Sometimes even they cannot say foul words in front of us, we can sense something fishy at the time we received message from them or even talk to one of them tete-a-tete or in a group meeting.  Still their question why you like to resurrect the things of the past? Aren’t we not in a democratic country? Why you guys not just get involve with USAID thing or get connected with the leftist or join any NGOs enable you can help our people through the program being introduced by them.

PBMM AL-SULTAN BANTILAN MUIZZUDDIN II - SULTAN OF THE TAUSUG

A good friend of mine has an answer to the good questions of our friend who were perplexed by our situations. Most probably these were some of his answers:
·
Let say the USAID hired us and pay us with high salary monthly, do the plight of the Tausug uplift from low class citizens to middle class or upper? Are you sure USAID is sincerely serving the Tausug without hidden agenda played at the back of their mind? What a suspicious!
·
Leftist? We’ve been with the leftist named it, according to a friend, but their struggle is only good for them not for the Tausug in the Sultanate of Sulu.
·
We were working in one of the famous NGOs in Mindanao and Sulu, but most of the NGO’s nowadays have their specific interest in the war torn Sulu and Mindanao, that depends on their goal and objective.  How many years the NGO’s did the program but the condition of the people in this part of the world are still in a complete disorder? This is not to blame the NGO’s who work for good of humankind, a friend defended, but are you not blind to let me jump into this kind of world?

What was the result of this candid discussion, both of them just left the meeting, but a dumbfounded friend left the discussion with big why crept on his mind: While walking he talk to himself:

There’s a point of this Sultanate’s guys about the USAID, am I really sure with what I’m doing now? But, he defended, I have a clear conscience and sincere intention, I just do the responsibility and work whatever good for myself, family and people. I am old enough to distinguish which good and bad are.

So far I knew him; he must stay with the leftist if he thinks it can bring any good to the Tausug and Islam.

I knew it, most working with the NGO’s were not people or service oriented but money oriented [excuse these words].

As a Muslim we must believe with the saying “just do what we think well to us and to our fellow”. As what the Qur’an tells us: To you be your Way, and to me mine” [109.006].

As an answer to a confused friend: Why we want to resurrect the Sultanate of Sulu; because SSDI is our country, the place where our forefather spilled their bloods against colonizers. Philippine government is just a temporary caretaker of the Sultanate of Sulu territory soon they will be returning back the de facto government to the Sultan of the Tausug? Is there any noble deed beside advocating and defending our beloved country? Perhaps Allah had failed some of our ancestors in the past, enable we could experience the life of a people having no country; the life of a people compels to adopt a citizenship which is not theirs in the name of survival?

All other things such as the black diamond in Sulu Sea, gold deposit in many banks throughout the world are minor things. If I’m the one to ask what I choose between the freedom of my people and gold deposit in the world banks and oil at the Sulu Sea, I surely choose freedom of my people. There’s no use of having plenty of resources should the freedom of your country is being stolen from its people. Its better they stole our resources than our freedom; for resources can easily be found, whereas freedom can only be regained through bloodshed and peaceful negotiation? There’s no easy walk to freedom [Nelson Mandela], at least, as you asked us with this question we already did thousands steps forward. To us it is better doing this little way than to keep ourselves busy with the things which are irrelevant to our country, people and religion.

By now, we’ll just leave it to Allah the rest of my answers, for He is brilliant than anyone in this world! But put this in your mind, “if today is your game tomorrow is our turn”!

May Allah open the heart of the Tausug who are still in doubt of their country, the Sultanate of Sulu!

No hurt feeling this is just a conversation of my friends. Thanks for reading.
